Judge orders Bay Mills' Vanderbilt Casino to close

A federal judge has granted a preliminary injunction ordering the Bay Mills Indian Community to close down its casino in Michigan's northern Lower Peninsula.
Judge Paul Maloney in Kalamazoo issued the ruling Tuesday morning ordering the casino to close by midday. The casino in Vanderbilt opened in November.
The Little Traverse Bay Bands of Odawa Indians filed suit last year to try to force the casino with roughly 40 slot machines to close. The Michigan Attorney General's Office also sued in an effort to shut down the casino.

AG tells Vanderbilt Casino to 'cease operations immediately'

7&4 news has just received a letter from the State Attorney General's Office that was sent to the Bay Mills Indian Tribe.
It demands that their controversial Vanderbilt Casino cease operations immediately.
The letter states that the casino does not meet legal standards and "the state -- therefore demands that Bay Mills immediately cease operation of all class-three gaming at the Vanderbilt Casino."
